Passoth spent his childhood in Japan in the 70s. In 2001, he returned there for his diploma.
On the one hand, he embarked on a search for his roots and memories. On the other, to trace a sense of Japanese spirit, which influenced him personally and his aesthetic sense as an artist.

Kyoto is the venue for his work. Kyoto is home to most of Japans Zen gardens. Places with strongly staged nature. The Kyoto Station area is a highly staged urbanism.
In this context, these places are predestined for his photographic approach and his concept of combining the documentary with the staged. Kyoto Memories is the foundation of his conceptual and visual language.
